FASOCANA is a vibrant Afro-fusion band rooted in the rich musical traditions of West Africa and shaped by the cultural diversity of Canada. Led by griot and multi-instrumentalist Siaka Diabaté, the group brings to life the Manding heritage through music that blends rhythm, emotion, and storytelling passed down through generations.
Inspired by the griot tradition — guardians of history and oral expression — FASOCANA creates a living musical experience that connects the past to the present. Their sound fuses Afro-jazz, traditional Manding music, and contemporary influences, resulting in a unique style that is both powerful and accessible to diverse audiences.
Through the use of iconic instruments such as the kora, balafon, and percussion, enriched with modern arrangements, FASOCANA delivers an immersive and deeply human musical experience. Each performance is an invitation to journey, dance, and connect.
Since its formation in Canada, FASOCANA has performed at numerous cultural events, concerts, and festivals. Notably, the group performed at the Ottawa Jazz Festival on June 21, 2025, showcasing their ability to captivate large and diverse audiences.
Recognized for their energy on stage, authenticity, and strong connection with the audience, FASOCANA continues to build a powerful presence in the music scene. Their music celebrates unity, cultural heritage, and the universal power of rhythm.
