Danika is a federal government scientist by trade and a musician by calling. She was trained in the classical tradition in her youth, but always felt the freedom, rhythms, and emotion of jazz more deeply in her bones. Her early inspirations were Thelonius Monk, Charles Mingus, Stevie Wonder, and her grandmother, a jazz pianist whose music enlivened family gatherings and Seattle piano bars alike. Danika is particularly fond of creative and unexpected musical interpretations and strives to achieve that in her own playing.
